For some of us old school Internet addicts, the world wide web doesn't hold a candle to text based bulletin board systems. We'll take ANSI text and ascii art over Javascript and cgi's every day of the week, and twice on Sundays! Here people of every flavor in the universe come to talk to others. Every user is unique, but all of us share one common bond. We have no lives. So if you can handle that, and want to join in on the fun, then jump aboard!!

To access all these BBS'es, you need a terminal program. Most of you should already have some sort of program, but if you don't or aren't sure, here are the ones I recommend. All of them are either shareware or freeware, so they aren't gonna cost you anything.
(I haven't used enough Linux to reccomend any particular program, but this one comes highly rated.)

Brinta	brinta.cs.hro.nl -	-	JYS	Who knows? It changed so damn much.	This place had stability problems with admin coming and going like there's a revolving door, which has been problematic when trying to get anything accomplished. But it still remains a nice little place, and is probably the BBS to goto if you want netsex. (OFFLINE FOREVER. R.I.P.)
Data's Lab	lab.kwello.com 212.204.221.2	-	JYS	Mister Data	Formerly: "A smaller, less caustic version of Brinta...nicer atmosphere than Brinta, but traffic is low, and it's been dead lately." After a long absence, Data's Lab was reborn to fill the spot that Brinta left when it shut down. Traffic is perhaps half of what Brinta had at the end, if that. Decent rooms but hardly any discussions, and those that do take place are dominated by loudmouths who think they hold a monopoly over the truth and what the proper viewpoint is. Not nearly as fun as the original Data's Lab, sadly.
eschwa	bbs.eschwa.com 66.92.76.83	bbs	DOC (variant)	Ivor, Mister Weasel, Mela	This is where all the people who took part in the Great Heinous Migration went after Atrium starting having problems and then went down for good. The Fishin' Hole	bbs.rsle.net 66.92.76.83	-	bbs100	Eeyore, Grune, The Ruiner	A private BBS for Muskies (Muskingum College alumni) to keep in contact and plan gatherings.
Global Village	global.uibk.ac.at. 138.232.92.39	-	YAWC (variant)	Mike, Matthias	A very large BBS, but hardly any users, and almost no traffic. There are separate rooms for nearly every subject in multiple languages, including Spanish, German, Italian, French & English. This BBS also has some fun games with a CUBES system, and is worth checking out.

(tm)" Warning: This is a VERY forward minded and liberal BBS. Not recommended for Limbaugh and Buchanan-loving right-wingers. Allows SSH connections (login: bbs) Currently offline due to hardware failure. Status unknown.
Howlin	howlin.dhs.org -	bbs	YAWC	Xantha	A nice little place, but with admin stability problems, except for Xantha who owns the place. (OFFLINE FOREVER. R.I.P.)

The Matrix	thematrixbbs.net 194.109.204.120	-	bbs100	Mz Boobala, Myth, Walter	A great bbs...cool code, cool forums, cool admin. This place just rocks the house! A must see for any bbs user! THE #1 BBS for stability and fun! Allows SSH connections (login: matrix, password: matrix)
Shadow	shadowbbs.com 206.185.12.100	-	DOC	WildThing, Cucumber	A little hole in the ground that used to be a big fish, and the final resting place of that pathetic old windbag, Rexx. This place used to be the place to go for technical questions and issues, but those days are over. If it's a technical question you have, eschwa BBS (see above) is the most likely place to get a correct answer. I'm surprised this place is still online.
Utopia Dammit!	utopiadammit.com 66.93.133.33	-	DOC (variant)	Neurophyre	An eschwa spinoff of sorts. Smaller than eschwa, but no less fun. You'll find many users here who got tired of some of the bickering, infighting and general nastiness that can sometimes occur on eschwa. I definitely try to check this place out. Wanderings	bbs.winterzone.com 208.42.91.157	-	bbs100	Harmony, Lightspeed, Mz Boobala	A Matrix-clone, of sorts. A happening new place. Longer idle and lock times than anyone else, and a good deal of traffic. This place looks to have a future. Currently offline. Status unknown.
